Angry Birds Star Wars + Plants vs. Zombies 2 for free on iOS

Not only Apple seems to celebrate its fifth anniversary with a bunch of games and apps for nada money, there are also more games available for free… and not in the free-to-play and purchase-DLC-later way.

Whoever thought that Angry Birds was a one-hit-wonder, only good for merchandise and no real imagination when it comes to storytelling, should definitely give Angry Birds Star Wars a mobile go. Not only does it feature John Williams’ standout musical score, it also uses cutscenes of the well-known sci-fi film series to great comic effect. It might not have the same kind of quality like the Lego Star Wars games and the gameplay of throwing birds on catapults in order to topple down structures and dispose of their adversary pigs hasn’t changed, but it’s worth a nostalgic laugh or two.

The other free game is the sequel to the bestselling comic tower-defense game Plants vs. Zombies which despite its casual appearance offered quite a lot of hardcore strategy fun on different gaming platforms. Plants vs. Zombies 2 is only available for free on the Australian and New Zealand App Store, so you either have to live there or… well, an appropriate account will do the trick as well.

Without going too much into detail and without knowing when this offer expires, be quick, check out the trailers and links.
