It’s finally here, that is, in digital form with courtesy of GOG: Tim Schafer’s reimagining of Grim Fandango, the game many people (including myself) have been waiting for to show that some adventure titles never get old and also prove that gaming can achieve a cinematic experience unlike anything on the big screen.
Even if remaking, remastering, or redoing anything old isn’t particularly new in the industry, Grim Fandango is still something special, with a live-orchestrated score and finally a point-and-click interface that will hopefully bring back those players who found the keyobard/gamepad controls a bit fiddly. Of course, graphics have also been improved with higher resolutions. Everything else is left intact.
For a new audience of gamers, getting the GOG version is the way to go, because it also features a three-part making-of in addition to HD wallpapers.
And if that wasn’t enough, GOG also started the Grim Fandango Fan Art Project that allows users to send in their own artwork and win a 5,99 Dollars gift code for any game they like. What’s also pretty cool is that the best art will be added to the goodies-section of the Grim Fandango Remastered package.
The contest will run until Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 11:59 PM GMT. The winners will be announced on February 18, 2015. For more info, check out the official news.
