One of the craziest point-and-click comic adventures meets FMV, Toonstruck, is out now on GOG, telling the story of cartoon writer Drew Blanc being pulled into his own colorful world to save it from destruction.
It’s been a long time, but the game with Back to the Future Doc Brown star Christopher Lloyd is finally available on DRM-free online distribution platform Good Old Games. Toonstruck brings back many fond memories of a time when adventure games were experimental with fullmotion video without compromising gameplay, while incorporating many surreal ideas. It’s actually one of very few titles where puzzle design and storytelling aren’t replaced by overlong and badly acted movie sequences.
The game is definitely one of the most underrated and greatest point-and-clickers that has to be played to be believed. Its humor is anarchic, its world and characters are bonkers, while the puzzles are just as weird. Definitely a highly recommended title.
In addition to this great news, GOG also started the Put yourself in Toonstruck contest that quite literally is about putting oneself into a screenshot of the game, which is obviously a great idea, considering that the game puts a live actor into a cartoon background. One can win either gift cards or a framed print out of the artwork of one’s choosing, i.e. selecting from all the pictures sent in. The entry deadline is February 24, at 4:59 PM GMT.
