GOG Release: “The Void”

Good Old Games brings back Ice-Pick Lodge’s surreal game-or-no-game experience The Void.

The Void is one of those titles which defy definition and require both patience, perseverance and imagination. It’s visually appealing with an out-of-this-world art style, while gameplay revolving around the use of colors (and drawing spells) to bring back light to a darkened world full of evil monsters is only part of the experience.

I have to say that I’ve been a bit careful with Ice-Pick Lodge games, as they usually want the player to spend a lot of time figuring out what to do. My only past experience was with Pathologic, a real-life-plague simulator which was rather slow, but still had a gripping atmosphere. So if you’re into experimental game design with a world to sunk hours in by simply understanding it, but also being captivated by it, then this game is worth checking out. The launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, February 17 at 1:59 PM GMT.
