Fast-paced shmup REVOLVER360 RE:ACTOR has been out for a while on Steam, but the recent addition to the DRM-free library of GOG is worth a news article, especially with a game as unique as this.
If you thought bullethell shooters are frantic and difficult affairs, then you haven’t seen this one yet. It’s not only about destroying waves of enemies, battling giant bosses and evading countless bullets. There’s an even more intriguing gameplay mechanic at work, i.e. switching between foreground and background.
With levels branching in multiple ways and more challenging modes to choose from, this is certainly no easy entry point, but it’s oh so pretty on the eyes, while the techno music might not be to everyone’s taste but certainly enhances the shooting on screen. I’ve always been a fan of these types of games, although it’s been a while since I actually played through any of them due to the samey gameplay. But with a title looking this good and having some fresh ideas, this is certainly worth a shot (pun intended).
