For those of you who’ve wondered where all the movies-related posts have gone, rest assured that I’m on it, but there were just too many games news that cinema had to take a backseat. In order to slowly introduce it again (even if still gaming-related), I’d like to share two videos with you.
Pokémon Battle: Rise of Pekachu
Now everyone’s heard of Pokémon, the card game having turned into a phenomenon back in the 90s and now being a part of pop culture if one likes it or not. Despite having nothing against it (actually liking the concept, characters and having played the card game and being intrigued by the digital versions), I always welcome parodies, and in an age of YouTubers being more concerned with Let’s Play videos and self-absorbed reviews, it’s refreshing to see the following fun short film. It might have some cheesy acting, but then again the whole situation of kids battling each other with monsters which come out of balls isn’t very realistic anyway, only adding to the craziness.
Luigi Death Stare @ Anime Expo 2014
If you’re not really a Pokémon fan and don’t understand what all the craze is about, maybe the other video is more to your liking, with the brother of a famous plumber (who jumps on things and eats mushrooms) going a bit mad at Anime Expo 2014. It might be a bit too long, but the reactions of people are often priceless. I myself find the whole cosplay thing strange (even if I see why people like it), so this is sort of satisfying to watch as well, although I guess one could do this anywhere.
These videos are all available on D-Piddy’s YouTube channel where many other gaming or comic-related stuff can be found (as he dresses up as Deadpool as well).
