With Halloween approaching soon and the days becoming darker, it’s high time for some spooky but also funny movies like Rob Letterman’s Goosebumps.
Based on the original scary children books by R.L. Stine, the creatures of his imagination come alive and go on a rampage due to some nosy neighbor kids. The idea of having fiction become reality isn’t new, and while some of Jack Black’s (who plays the real author Stine) humor seems to be hit and miss like the rest of the cast, this is quite an exciting trailer of a movie that will hit cinemas on October 16 this year.
Even if I couldn’t particularly laugh about the trailer’s forced jokes and the CGI doesn’t look that great, I find the whole concept quite fun. With many different beasties on the loose (including garden gnomes, how cool is that?), this could quite easily be a very entertaining, mindless 100 minutes (with probably lots of pop out effects in 3D) for those who’re not into bloody, gory movies.
As I’ve always been interested in the books on which movies are based on, I’ll probably give R.L. Stine’s series of uncanny stories a go as well and maybe these novels will be featured here, too. Until then, we’ll have lots of other trailers and movie reviews coming soon.
