This year’s Halloween seems to bring out quite a lot of horror movies with a bit more blood and guts, as seen in Christopher Landon’s Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.
It’s been some time since an entertaining movie like Zombieland was released, but this could very well be the next level of the geeks vs. the undead formula, even without the involvement of Bill Murray and Woody Harrelson. With the simple idea of boyscouts wanting to go to a stripper club, but getting more than they bargained for (read: a stripper with a shotgun and many zombies to kill), it looks like a fun splatter flick (with an awesome 80s style poster).
What’s especially cool about the trailer is that not only are swear words included, but gory details aren’t lacking either, something quite a few recent movie trailers seem to avoid in order to reach a bigger (or younger) audience. It might look like mindless fun (which it probably is) without much of character development, but as long as it has crazy ideas like zombie cats and involves lots of inventive zombie killing tools, then this can’t go wrong. So those of you living in the US, in Canada, you can watch it on October 30 this year. Others (like Germans) have to wait a bit longer (November 12th).
