Tis was the season to be jolly with presents under the Christmas tree and probably some kisses under the mistletoes, and in this blog many Christmas-themed movies and games were discussed. In order to find a smooth transition between paid and free content, the GOG and Bethesda Happy Holidays sale provides discounts and the free game Bio Menace.
Bio Menace is an old school action-platformer from Apogee Software/3D Realms, the latter company being involved in classics like the Duke Nukem series. So it looks and plays like the old Duke Nukem 1+2 which were also excellent games. The only difference is that the game is completely free (and not for a limited time). All you have to do is create an account on GOG and add it to your library. If ever there was a bargain or cool after-Christmas gift…
The games on offer are the usual suspects which have already been featured in the Bethesda Softworks on GOG and GOG releases more Quake and Wolfenstein with censorship issues articles. In short, most titles are available in Germany (and other countries), while Wolfenstein, Quake II and Quake III: Team Arena are unfortunately locked (but not for the rest of the world). Welcome to the brave new world of sad legal restrictions being applied to online distribution channels…
The Ultimate Doom
Doom II + Final Doom
An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire
The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Red Guard
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind – GOTY Edition
Fallout
Fallout 2
Fallout Tactics
Quake: The Offering
As always, if you buy any game from the Bethesda catalogue, you’ll get a free copy of The Elder Scrolls: Arena and The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall. The sale will last until Tuesday, December 29, 4:59 AM GMT, so get the games (in addition to the free one) before then.
