Blogging milestone reached: 100+ followers

As I’ve been updating this blog with various categories as well as graphical fixes and being involved in social media, it seems that this also had an effect on the number of followers, likes and comments.

Now I have over 100 followers from other blogs and 200 on Twitter. Facebook and Tumblr may require some work, but twittering seems the most reasonable place to be at the moment, and of course connecting with other bloggers via WordPress. So if you haven’t done already, make sure to stay connected via these social platforms.

I’ve received quite a few likes and comments recently, and for that I’m also very thankful, especially since they’re not of the abusive troll-like kind one has to face so often on bigger websites. It’s been a real pleasure to reply to these and it’s also been great to visit other blogs which might have to do with the increase in the number of followers. Especially the baking blog entries seem to work wonders. Who’d have thought?

Of course this blog is constantly evolving. Having started as an experiment of writing in this new media, getting more involved with gaming news and reviews I’ve always done on another German website, then moving over to movies and finally covering other things as well, the more diverse it became, the more followers it had. Maybe it’s not a big deal for a big website or a blog with thousands of followers, but I’m very grateful for any new reader and looking forward to new comments, likes, etc.

As always, if you have any suggestions how to make this blog better, be it structure-wise, visually, or topic-related, please let me know. As much as it’s mine, it’s also yours :-)!

Being an avid gamer, cinemaniac, and bookworm in addition to other things the internet and new media present, I'm also very much into DIY music, rock and pop in particular. Writing short or longer pieces about anything that interests me has always made me happy. As both an editor for German website "Adventure-Treff" and UK website "Future Sack", I like to write reviews and news about recent developments in the movies, games and book industry.

Congratulations. Keep up the good work 😉
Concerning your blog maybe you could try to make things a bit more “tangible”. You published those recipes and the videos showing how to do things. You could try that with certain games, too. Not all, of course as that would be too time consuming. But maybe with some you consider special or that someone has requested. So when you write a review or make an announcement for a game you’ve played you might show people a short video of how you played. Screenshots always give a good impression but a video…well, there’s something going on, literally. I mean trailers are nice but they also have a certain perfection that no player may achieve while playing. So having a look at someone really playing the game might make people relate more to what they see. This is what came to my mind. Hope it helps 😉

Thanks! Ah, you mean those Let’s Play videos? Never thought about that, but I might try it sometime. Only I’d need a better internet connection for uploading, so it might not happen for a while. Still and interesting idea, especially since the YouTube channel is quite empty at the moment. I actually completely forgot to mention this one…

Yeah, like one of those; where you really pick out some pros and cons from your review. Like, here’s the part the game always crashes etc. or you just literally show your readers what you’ve written. Instead of worrying about your internet connection you might just wanna give it a try 😉 No one expects you to give a complete overview. Maybe just some 3-5 minutes for starters; see how people like it, how you like it…you can cross that internet bridge when you come to it 😉

Sounds like a plan, and next up we might even have a “let’s watch” of certain movie scenes, especially the bad flicks ;). Honestly, there could be something I could show you right now with the horrible controls in a certain game that is up for reviewing soon. Has to be seen to be believed :). But yes, this video thing could be really something I might look into if time allows, so thanks for that recommendation!

Yes, it does sound like a plan. Something like a see for yourselves category. Maybe you could give it a shot with that game you’re talking about. Anyways, you’re more than welcome 🙂

Yes, might be short and sweet (or cruel), depending on the article. There will definitely be more videos which are in the process of being edited… soon, so hopefully I’ll get the time spent on these to a reasonable degree ;). I’m not a big fan of Let’s Play videos, usually because most of those people doing them can get pretty annoying. But maybe I’ll just do voiceless ones, with only what’s on screen telling the story :).

If you wanna give those videos a try, then do it the way you like and see where it leads you 😉

  2. Congratulations!! That’s wonderful, and such an amazing milestone. I love your blog, and even though I’m not the avid gamer I once was years ago, I still enjoy reading your reviews…and, of course, your baking and Star Wars stuff thrown into the mix. I love the idea of adding a screenshot of the game you’re discussing or reviewing as it gives people a bit more of a sense of what it looks like, how it works, etc…even if you have to mute the voices on them (haha)…or add your own! Keep up the great work, and may the force be with you 😀

Ah, thank you for the kind words! Even though I’m not much of a road traveler (probably because I don’t have a car), I enjoy your blog as well and all the different kinds of posts, SW-related or not ;).
Yes, the more variety, the better. I’ll try to do more theme parks and some travel stuff, but as you know, this always takes time.
Choosing screenshots isn’t easy. I used to make my own for another website, but now there are always nice ones available from the official websites. Still it’s always funny how some reflect what I’ve written ;). Texts and photos/screenshots always go well together, I completely agree. I’ll keep up the work and at the moment I’m preparing some really Force-related reviews…
