Game release: “The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries” (PC, mobile, consoles)

It hasn’t been a long time since the announcement, and the first episode In too Deep of Telltale GamesThe Walking Dead spin-off Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries is already out.

The Walking Dead was never a series that held back from showing broken characters and violence, and this miniseries comprising three episodes is no different. The trailer for the first part already indicates that heroine Michonne doesn’t only fight her personal demons of the past but also who or what is hiding on a floating survivors’ colony. Bloodsoaked and using her katana sword this isn’t for the squeamish.

It might also not be for those who still hang on to the old Telltale titles with puzzle solving or much interactivity, as it seems to rely very much on fast reflexes in quick time events and decision-making. Again the question remains which different story branches will open up or close, but from the first looks of it, it’s just as brutal and unforgiving as one can hope a zombie apocalypse game to be.

For the first time buying individual episodes isn’t possible. If this marketing strategy works will be seen from the sales, but as I usually wait for seasons to be complete, a three-part structure is better suited to the monthly (or 2-3 monthly) release schedule.
