Turn-based strategy RPGs with strong narratives and a unique visual style receive another addition with Whale Hammer Games‘ Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire.
Inspired by games like The Banner Saga 2, the game is about the journey of an army led this time by Tahira, a princess of Avestan. The art style is striking and similar to the series, but there’s a sci-fi twist to it, as it all takes place in a world first explored by a space-faring civilization that has collapsed into the Dark Ages with the Astral Empire bringing its downfall. So one should expect lots of epic storytelling and battles during the adventure even if it only depicts one eventful night.
Fighting against the Astral Empire, the player is tasked to control many groups of fighters in turn-based battles, each with their own special abilities and attributes. However, in contrast to many similar games, these encounters should always progress the story, so filler fights to level up aren’t the order of the day. Even more important is the character of Tahira herself who discovers more and more about the environment and shares her thoughts and feelings. It all looks and sounds mightily impressive, to say the least.
The game is now available on PC with a discount launch of 10% that will last until September 6, 1:59 PM, UTC. In addition, the soundtrack can also be purchased separately.
