Sometimes one word can be enough to summarize a game, and it Matters Games‘ trade-RPG-strategy mix Caravan certainly sets the scene.
The Arabian Peninsula is always a great backdrop for adventure stories, and it’s too bad that so few games use it as their setting (e.g. Al-Qadim: The Genie’s Curse). The Oriental atmosphere with its rich stories about bandits, djinns, and other human or ghoulish creatures is enough to evoke a different feeling from the usual game tropes, even if it only means to lead a caravan from one place to the next.
Managing the caravan’s supplies, defending against all kinds of dangers requires planning and strategic thinking, while trading goods and making enough money to survive means that the business aspect isn’t neglected. The regional folklore and stories of the Arabian Nights provide additional quests to complete. The main plot about an heir to the throne of Iram, City of Pillars, who suddenly decides to give up on his privileges and embarks on a journey of adventures to bring back joy to the life of his mothers, sounds like an intriguing one as well.
The game published by Daedalic Entertainment is now available on PC with a 10% discount that will last until October 7, 12:59 PM UTC (so today!).
