Amazon Prime Video watchlist: March to April 2017

As an enthusiastic collector (more about that pretty soon) and festival fan, I’ve always been cautious about digital streaming. The reason for this wasn’t only that I prefer to physically hold something in my hands and appreciate some lovely artwork or goodies in certain cases, but that my internet wasn’t really up to it However, this recently changed with my first foray into Amazon Prime Video territory.

Even if my internet was still far from good and couldn’t handle certain detailed scenes, I tried out a free month of the digital service and really got hooked. While I was disappointed with a few movies not featuring the original version (i.e. only German dubbing), it was the perfect way to try out some titles I’d otherwise have spent quite a lot of money on or skipped. I haven’t been interested in renting since the days of DVDs, buying was always the easier option. But then again one often buys movies that can be a waste of time, some being intentionally bad and others over-hyped.

Despite Amazon Prime offering 2 or 1 year old movies and many crappy indie films, the service is still recommendable. The price of 8.99 EUR per month is okay, the 12-month subscription of 69 Euros (so around 5-6 EUR per month) is certainly unbeatable. Of course there are some exclusive TV shows, but one shouldn’t expect the same amount of content as with Netflix (more about that soon as well).

So here’s what I watched from the end of March to the end of April in 2017. The list is pretty complete and might be taken as a basis for future (review) articles:

Movies:
The Boy Next Door
Brutal Relax
The Cobbler
Daddy’s Home (2015)
Hannibal (2001)
Hannibal Rising
Hentai Kamen 2 – The Abnormal Crisis
The House on Sorority Row
The Internship
Jackass 2.5
Jimmy Vestvood: Amerikan Hero
Madman (1982)
The Nice Guys
Scarecrow (2013)
Shanghai Knights
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot
Ultimate Walt Disney World

TV shows:
Ash vs. Evil Dead (complete Seasons 1-2)
Chi’s Sweet Adventure (some of Season 1)
Dexter (complete Seasons 1-6)
Drunk History (some of Season 1)
Fantasy Lands (complete Season 1)
The Shannara Chronicles (complete Season 1)
Super Epic Cats (some)

Comedy clips:
Will Ferrell: Bat Fight
Will Ferrell: Dear Woman
Will Ferrell: Good Cop, Baby Cop
Will Ferrell: Green Team
Will Ferrell: President Bush Reacts to Osama Bin Laden’s Death
Will Ferrell Screaming

Maybe you’ve already watched most of these shows, movies or clips. If you haven’t, put them on your watch list if you have Amazon Prime Video or are planning to use it (and if they’re still available, this being the major problem of digital streaming). Of course I’m always interested in new recommendations, so please feel free to tell me if there are some shows/movies that are worth checking out. At the moment I don’t have Amazon Prime, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I jump on the digital streaming service platform again.
