GOG Adventurous Summer Sale 2017

GOG’s sales are always something special when it comes to building stories around them, and the Adventure on Mystery Island is no different with lots of bargains, new GOG Connect games and a giveaway.

Last year’s GOG summer sale 2016 already showed that GOG knows how to captivate users with an RPG-like shopping concept and offering System Shock 2 as a freebie. This time one can even shape the treasure hunting story of the sale via GOG’s Twitter account, making decisions along the way of exploring an island that is obviously full of bargains or maybe other surprises.

One of them is the inclusion of 40 (!) games that can be redeemed on GOG Connect if one owns them on Steam. If this wasn’t enough, then one will receive space exploration/strategy/action mix Rebel Galaxy after the first purchase of the 1500+ games on offer. This might sound like a step back from the typical giveaways, but there’s an interesting work-around for that. Get GWENT: The Witcher Card Game for free (which is currently in open beta), get a free 4K graphic asset pack, and you will be able to receive The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for free as well! An amazing game I also reviewed here. It all sounds a bit complicated, but having three games for free is worth it. Just make sure that you redeem your Rebel Galaxy code right away, as the code will expire on June 27, 23:59 CEST.

As always, it’s hard to write about every single game that is on offer during the sale (and there might be more surprises on the way, who knows), so I’d go with the usual adventure game suspects of which some are included in the Adventurecorner list (a German website focused on this genre). The Gamestar bundle is also full of great games. It seems that GOG’s partners are region-specific, so you might have other media collections. Anyway, feel free to browse through all the bundles and games. There’s still enough time, because the summer sale will last until Tuesday, June 20, 12:59 PM UTC (5:59 AM PDT, 8:59 AM EDT, 2:59 PM CEST).
