Dungeon Keeper 20th anniversary + GOG special sale

Time flies by, but great classic games like Bullfrog’s humorous RTS simulation Dungeon Keeper still remain as original as 20 years ago, so it’s time to celebrate this and another GOG special sale.

It’s true that I already covered quite a few GOG sales (and thanks to those of you using the referral links, this is always appreciated!) and I also mentioned the original Bullfrog game in the release of War for the Overworld or Dungeons 2: A Game of Winter in addition to the original Dungeons 2 being featured as a freebie in the Humble Bundle spring sale. The developers of War for the Overworld, Subterranean Games, share their thoughts and memories in this interesting blog read, and I can only emphasize that I loved playing the first and second Dungeon Keeper back in the days and was always waiting for a third game to materialize.

Being able to play the bad guy, slapping minions to speed up the mining gold process, using spells, building rooms and contraptions to train one’s creatures while defending against invading do-gooders, was always fun, and despite the graphics not being up to scratch anymore, it’s a game I’d recommend to anyone who wants to try something different. To celebrate the 20th anniversary, GOG has many tongue-in-cheek simulation games on offer. Overlord might not be without its faults, but it’s still chaotic fun, while Evil Genius shows what would happen if one builds an evil underground organization. Ghost Master is also a great twist on the scaring-people-in-a-haunted-house scenario.

The special sale will last until July 3, 10 PM UTC and includes the following games:

Dungeon Keeper Gold
Dungeon Keeper 2
War for the Overworld
War for the Overworld: Anniversary Collection
War for the Overworld: Heart of Gold
War for the Overworld: My Pet Dungeon
War for the Overworld: Underlord Edition
War for the Overworld: Underlord Edition Upgrade
War for the Overworld: Worker Skin Collection
Overlord + Raising Hell
Evil Genius
Ghost Master
Dungeons 2
Dungeons 2: A Chance of Dragons
Dungeons 2: A Game of Winter
Dungeons 2: A Song of Sand and Fire
