If one mixes roguelike RPG elements with rhythm action and releases a DLC, then Brace Yourself Games‘ Crypt of the NecroDancer: AMPLIFIED is the result.
I don’t know how, but I’ve always had the original game on my to-write-about list, and then it disappeared from my mind sometime in 2015, so it’s about time to rectify this injustice to a game that won all kinds of awards and now received a DLC that builds on an innovative gameplay concept about the character moving around and fighting in ever-changing dungeons to the beat of the soundtrack (even with one’s own MP3 collection!). Played with keyboard, controller, or even a USB dance pad, it’s not the most relaxing game for sure, and it gets even crazier now.
Playing against undead creatures with four playable characters in new gameplay modes and pet-like companions fighting alongside, it’s all rather chaotic fun. Boss battles and lots of treasures to find is further complemented by over 40 new tracks to listen and move to. So if you’re up for something that sticks out of the indie roguelikes crowd with fun retro character graphics and love music, then this is the best way to combine both worlds.
The DLC is out now on PC with a 20% launch discount and the base game with 80% off, but only until today, July 14, 5 PM UTC, so be quick and grab the undead music RPG mix before it’s too late!
