It’s been madness with all recent gaming-related things, but it gets even crazier now thanks to GOG, as it offers Tequila Works‘ action-platformer Deadlight: Director’s Cut for free with the Piñata Madness sale.
Almost five years ago, I already played and reviewed the original Deadlight, so it’s exciting to see this zombie survival-platformer back with new features and tweaks. Deadlight: Director’s Cut is now running at 1080p, has newer animations and better controls. In addition to the new Survival Arena mode, one can browse through the original developer diaries and a digital art book.
The game is only available for free at the moment, with only a few hours left, so be quick and grab it while you can!
As there’s not much time left for the freebie and I want to get this article out ASAP, here’s just a quick rundown of what the Piñata Madness sale is all about. It’s been 2 years since I wrote about the GOG Indie Piñata, and the concept hasn’t really changed. Going to the Piñata hub, one can buy and smash a digital Piñata for 3 Dollars. Of course it remains a mystery what game is inside until it opens up, but that’s the Mexican tradition for you.
Even if the 100+ mystery games can be worth anywhere from $5.99 to $44.99, GOG promises that these aren’t throwaway, mediocre titles. Citing Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Victor Vran, and Saints Row 4 means that quality wins over quantity. Of course there’s always a chance that you already own some of the games, but each game you drop will be a giftable code you can send to friends. Finally, if uncertainty isn’t your thing, there’s still the Weekly Megasale with up to 90% off discounts for various titles. Together with the Piñata Madness the offer will last until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.
