Doublefine‘s Psychonauts, one of the best adventure-platformers ever created, is now available for free on Humble Bundle, but only for a very short time.
To make this quick, as the offer already expires tomorrow, simply head over to the Humble Bundle Store and get this amazing game from creative mastermind Tim Schafer. Before he literally kickstarted the whole Kickstarter business with Broken Age and revisited his classic adventure games with Day of the Tentacle: Remastered and Full Throttle: Remastered (all of them I reviewed in the appropriate articles), he did a wonderful game that is still to be matched to this day in originality, namely Psychonauts.
To simply call it a platformer would do it injustice, as the idea of jumping into people’s heads and fighting their inner nightmares, literally collecting emotional baggage, opens up all sorts of creative opportunities for the developer to shine. Of course there’s also a great story behind it about a camp of psychic kids and a sinister plan to steal their brains. Using different abilities, it’s up to Rasputin to save the day and people’s minds. With an illustrious cast of characters, different levels and gameplay changing from platforming to action and puzzle segments, this is a must-play title for anyone curious about why platforming and adventure games don’t have to be necessarily exclusive, so grab it before the offer expires in about a day!
