After having a look at the GOG Weekly Sale: Get 3 games for free by spending $15, GOG has another offer, this time a free copy of Stories: The Path of Destinies with pre-ordering Runic Games‘ upcoming action-adventure Hob.
I already covered Stories: The Path of Destinies in this release news, so if you want to learn more, you’re welcome to read it. In short, it’s a really cool twist on oral storytelling and action-RPG mechanics with a branching narrative and animals as lead characters. Although it wasn’t developed by the same company, the cel-shaded art style is quite similar, so this might explain why it’s given away as a free bonus when buying Hob.
Hob might be called an action-adventure, but there appears to be quite a lot of puzzle solving and platforming. The story is vague, although being presented as a wordless narrative, it adds to the intrigue to traverse an open world that is falling apart and has to be mended. The landscape literally changes and opens up new areas to explore. Using mechanical glove-arm abilities, the gameplay revolves around grappling, punching, and warping, so there should be enough puzzles to make it a varied experience.
Hob is due for release on Sep 26, 2017 on PC and PS4. Pre-ordering it now with 10% off and receiving Stories: The Path of Destinies for free is one way, but it’s also possible to pick up the developer’s former action-RPGs Torchlight and Torchlight II and get a 55% discount on all three games. The offers will last throughout the pre-order period and the free code of Stories: The Path of Destinies will be available when purchasing Hob until October 10, 2017.
