It has almost become a weekly tradition to feature new bundles, but with the Humble Very Positive Bundle 2 it’s easy to see why.
Rogue-like (or rogue-lite) indie games with pixel art are dime a dozen these days, so it’s not surprising to see them in the form of top-down cyberpunk shooter Neon Chrome and action-adventure dungeon crawler Dungeon Souls, but for a small asking price of just 1 Dollar or more, these still look like a lot of fun, especially with the addition of the 360-degree robot shooter/platformer hybrid RIVE: Wreck, Hack, Die, Retry that offers more than enough explosions to 16-bit classic enthusiasts.
Paying less than 8 Dollars (at the time of writing) gives you three more games: action-adventure with an intelligent enemy hierarchy system Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition, party building-platformer Ultimate Chicken Horse, and 80ies-inspired exploration adventure Oxenfree. While the latter is a really cool storytelling experience (see my review), the Lord of the Rings-based game also received some very good scores, with the successor already in the release pipeline. However, maybe the most fun and, in my opinion, most original title is the platformer game, because it’s about racing against friends on a parkour that one has to build together, complete with all sorts of vicious traps.
10 Dollars or more unlocks randomly-generated-roadtrip-simulator (but with zombies) Death Road to Canada and humorous 80ies-cop-show adventure/simulation hybrid Beat Cop. I already wrote about the first title in this GOG release article and found the concept pretty cool. But the second game is even more intriguing for an adventure gamer like me. Although these are only two indie games (with the chance being quite high that they’ll turn up in another bundle sooner or later), 2-3 Dollars more won’t hurt.
Finally, if you really want to spend a lot of money but want to have the complete bundle, then there’s the chance of pre-ordering Middle-earth: Shadow of War and receiving a cool-looking Shadow of War T-shirt. Oh well, 80 Dollars is certainly a price worth thinking about…
The offer will only last a few days, so make sure to grab it before it expires.
