There are many action-RPGs, but few feature a tiny mouse as in SeithCG‘s Ghost of a Tale.
It doesn’t happen very often that an early access game can make you feel as excited about the final release as a AAA production like The Witcher III, but Ghost of a Tale is such a case. Telling the story about the mouse and minstrel Tilo who goes on a quest to find his true love Merra, this is no ordinary game, especially since the world is populated by animals only. Calling it a regular action-adventure would be misleading, too, as being a mouse means that stealth and wit are often the only means to overcome big obstacles and enemies.
Taking into account that the game is mainly developed by one person, Seith, who is responsible for story, art, and coding, with the help of a very small team, it looks absolutely amazing. I’m not sure if I can go so far as calling the graphics The Witcher III-quality, but the environments are stunning, to say the least, full of details and lighting effects, while the character models and animations are very state-of-the-art, too. It remains to be seen how the story and quests turn out, but if it’s on par with the great AAA games, but for a very small launch price, then this comes highly recommended if your PC system can handle the engine.
The game has been out for over two weeks on PC, and since its release a few big updates have been made, so it should run more smoothly. An Xbox One version is also in the works and should arrive sometime in 2018. The PS4 might get support as well, but at the moment SeithCG can’t talk about it. So fingers crossed this game sells as well as it looks.
