Sorath’s Devil Daggers, a throwback to classic 90ies FPS gaming, arrives on GOG.
Sometimes you don’t need a story or characters and simply focus on shooting everything in sight, as it was the case for all the Doom and other FPS titles in the past. Devil Daggers shows that it’s still possible to feel that same sense of thrilling action, combined with powerful magic to fight back hordes of enemies.
Originally released in 2016 and also being featured in the Humble microJUMBO Bundle article, it’s now DRM-free and gives players the opportunity to use the titular magic daggers to get rid of an increasing number of demons. By harvesting demonic crystals, one increases the power of these hand weapons, so it’s all about surviving, as there isn’t any story or level progression. With hundreds of enemies on screen and an engine that evokes the artful pixel graphics of old and combines it with decal effects, it’s a great way to relive the fun FPS action of old.
Devil Daggers is now available on GOG with a 25% launch discount that will last until tomorrow, April 17, 1 pm UTC. However, be advised that in order to take full advantage of all the features, like submitting scores to leaderboards and watching replays, requires a 3rd party account, so it’s not really DRM-free if you want to use these.
