GOG release: “NeuroVoider”

Flying Oak Games and Plug In Digital‘s twin-stick top-down shooter RPG Neurovoider makes its DRM-free splash on GOG.

Arcade shooters usually don’t tell the most elaborate stories, and it’s no different here, as the plot about brains in a cyber futuristic world starting a rebellion against their evil robot oppressors is more than just a little bit silly. But it’s a good excuse for blowing stuff up and leveling up in the process, best done in local co-op with up to 4 players.

Procedurally generated levels and rogue-lite elements with permadeath are pretty common in the indie gaming scene, but 8736 unique enemies probably aren’t. Customization and choosing the right weapon at the right time are a given, but this doesn’t mean that this game isn’t fun in small doses. While it doesn’t offer much in the visual department, the pumping techno soundtrack certainly turns the simplistic gameplay into a heart-pounding experience, not unlike Nex Machina.

NeuroVoider was originally released in 2016 on Steam for PC and one year later on various console platforms, but it’s now finally available DRM-free with a 50% launch discount that will last until July 19, 10am UTC.
