Triumph Studios‘ action/strategy RPG Overlord II returns in DRM-free form to GOG.
Playing the bad guy has always been more fun in games since the release of Dungeon Keeper, and while the original Overlord might not have been the funniest game, it still provided a breath of fresh air for the RPG/action/strategy genre, just for the mix of all these elements alone. Being the Overlord who commands minions to conquer the lands is simply something that should be entertaining for anyone who’d usually find the high fantasy RPG stories to be too conventional.
Overlord II continues the tradition of using various creatures/minions who have unique abilities to fight enemies or solve environmental puzzles. Controlling the Overlord in a third-person perspective and letting others do the dirty work by sending minions out remains as enjoyable as before, and with additional spells and attacks, the chaotic action can also be done by one’s own hands. I still remember playing this on the Xbox 360, and even if the gameplay was rather repetitive and not all the jokes worked, it was still a lot of fun to play.
Overlord II is now available on GOG.com with a 75% launch discount that will last until July 23th, 1pm UTC. The first Overlord, including the add-on Raising Hell, is also 75% until that day.
