Upcoming gaming events: devcom 2018 in Cologne, Germany

The upcoming gamescom 2018 isn’t the only big event, as devcom 2018 looks like an even more interesting proposition for game developers.

devcom is a developer conference that takes place shortly before gamescom at the Congress Center East of Koelnmesse in Cologne, from Sunday, August 19, to Monday, August 20. The focus of keynote talks, summits and workshops is clearly on all contemporary game design aspects in addition to networking with MeetToMatch. The line-up of the attending speakers is very impressive: Peter Molyneux and Richard Garriott can be considered some of the most prominent designers with their work on classic games like Dungeon Keeper, Fable or the Ultima series. But having Cory Barlog, who is renowned for the recent God of War, and Saralyn Smith from Blizzard involved is also pretty amazing. More speakers will be announced shortly.

As is always the case with conferences, there are many different prices for tickets, depending on one’s involvement in the gaming industry, so if you’re planning to go there, maybe even combine it with gamescom, then please check out this page. The program can seen here, although it’s subject to change, with the full information available for download soon.

It’s also worth noting that there will be an Indie Area where developers can present their games. Thanks to the support of the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, development teams from NRW can participate in the devcom NRW Indie Area at no additional cost. As there will be a Press and Publisher/Investor Pitch in addition to an award the day after, this should be the best way to be heard and seen with one’s product.

So even if the gamescom will already be very busy, not only because of press appointments, the devcom 2018 seems to be another must-go event. Let’s see if an additional cover story will make it to these pages, depending on time and accreditation status.
