If gamescom 2018 and devcom 2018 weren’t already enough, then the love for music in games, movies, and TV can be experienced with the SoundTrack_Cologne 15 event.
SoundTrack_Cologne has always offered interesting insights into the compositions of music for TV, movies, and also games. As all the eyes are on Cologne and gaming in August, the program of this year’s event that takes place from Thursday, August 23, until Saturday, August 25, is no different, although it’s not all about games.
Thursday will have games, Friday movies, and Saturday TV shows as topics, with composers Takeshi Furukawa (The Last Guardian), Pieter Schlosser (Destiny 2) and Garry Schyman (BioShock) speaking in their workshops about what it’s like to write music for games. Afterwards there will be a panel discussion with Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest) and Richard Jacques (James Bond 007: Blood Stone, Mass Effect). Of course there are also other ways to get involved with music, so just check out the locations and program for more information.
I don’t know if I can make it to these events, because from my experience, having press appointments from Tuesday until Friday, there isn’t any time (or strength) left, but if you’re interested, there are various ways to receive an accreditation. What will be of particular interest and also coolness: the live orchestration of the action-RPG Stories: The Path of Destinies which I already previewed here and which will be played while the music adapts to the action on screen.
