Weappy‘s strategy-adventure This is the Police 2 shows how hard it can be to serve and protect again.
When I covered the release of the original This is the Police, I thought that the way how the institution was portrayed was already quite harsh, but realistic. So it’s no surprise that the sequel continues the tradition of putting the player into the shoes of a law enforcer who has to struggle with resources and decide which measures to take in order to succeed as a sheriff.
Managing staff (cops), investigating, interrogating, and even incarcerating are all part of the job. Turn-based tactical combat is important to stay alive, while trying to move in the grey zone of morality to avoid being sent to prison is also essential. As always, the mix of management cop simulation, strategy, visual novel, and puzzle game might not be for everyone, which is also true for the depiction of violence and the use of coarse language, but this is what makes the release so different from other titles.
The game is out now on PC, with console versions following in autumn, with a 10% launch discount that will last until August 7th, 3pm UTC. The original is also 67% off on GOG, but only until tomorrow, Thursday, August 2nd, 10 am UTC.
