Yager Development‘s and 2K Games‘ anti-war shooter Spec Ops: The Line finally makes its way to GOG.
It’s been a year since I wrote about the Humble Bundle freebie, but it’s much more exciting to be able to play Spec Ops: The Line without DRM. Without going too much into detail about the storyline and the gameplay which I already did, suffice it to say that this is still one of the few third-person shooters that is remembered for its plot and character development. References to Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness novel are obvious, with a group of American soldiers trying to find out what happened to an apparently mad colonel and his squad in the sandstorm-ridden city of Dubai.
What follows is a tense journey with action set-pieces that isn’t only about shooting bad guys, but more about asking moral questions. Despite it having been released 7 years ago, the graphics still look great, and together with its engaging storyline, this isn’t a shooter to be missed. So what better way to experience it now in DRM-free form?
Spec Ops: The Line is out now on GOG with a 80% launch discount that will last until May 20th, 10pm UTC.
