Calling this game quirky isn’t half of the story, as having a ghostly chicken and a wobbly spaghetti cat as protagonists is already pretty weird. Putting them in front of a tabletop with friends that serves to tell the story of treasure hunting really takes it as far as metafiction goes. Meeting even more bonkers characters on the way is a given, but so is the element of surprise in how one can change the storyline.
Everyone who’s familiar with Dungeons & Dragons or any other roleplaying game which makes it possible to change scenes and rules on the fly will see the RPG roots, as one can adjust certain attributes that have an effect on the puzzles to solve and decisions to be made. It’s all rather tongue-in-cheek compared to high fantasy dungeon master proceedings. With a lovely cartoon art style, this is certainly an adventure one shouldn’t miss.
Walk the Plank isn’t the first adventure Chook and Sosig have partaken in, as the others can be played for free on this website. But this new release is a much more comprehensive and full adventure that is now available on PC with a 10% launch discount that will last until June 24th, 5pm UTC.
