Frontier Developments‘ dinosaur simulation game Jurassic World Evolution receives a new cinematic update with the Claire’s Sanctuary DLC.
The company isn’t only known for their PlanetCoaster franchise that already showed how important a movie license can be, as in the Ghostbusters DLC, but also for Jurassic World Evolution, a title that many fans of Steven Spielberg’s franchise dreamed about: building a park and taking care of a species that is alive again. Claire’s Sanctuary poses a threat for the dinosaurs, though, as their habitat Isla Nublar is on the brink of destruction because of the eruption of a volcano. To avoid another extinction, former Jurassic World Operations Manager Claire Dearing has to save them and bring them over to the paradise island of Sanctuary.
Unlike recent blockbuster movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, proceedings aren’t in danger to get out of hand because of warmongers and moneymakers, but this doesn’t mean that the endeavor to save the dinosaurs is made any easier. Evacuating the animals isn’t the only problem, as a mysterious illness has taken a hold on them. So trying to find out what the cause of the disease is and developing a cure is just as important as making sure that the dinosaurs arrive safely in a suitable environment. There’s also the commercial aspect of running a theme park to take into account, too.
The new DLC doesn’t only offer a new campaign, but also introduces new structures, features and three new dinosaurs (Albertosaurus, Euoplocephalus, and Ouranosaurus). New paleobotany features and the Greenhouse facility make research and development of extinct plant species possible, which is important for the dinosaurs’ enclosures, while a new off-road ‘Jurassic Tour’ truck ride for park visitors is also part of the package. All in all, this DLC is recommended to anyone who loves the movies and wants to experience first-hand how managing a theme park and saving a species that one only knows from books and movies feels like.
