Game release: “AMID EVIL” (PC)

Indefatigable and New Blood Interactive‘s AMID EVIL marks a glorious return to the good old FPS times.

It doesn’t take much to make an old-school shooter fan happy. So it’s enough to know that one has to vanquish evil in seven forms manifesting itself in seven episodes that are a playground of pixel violence powered by the Unreal Engine 4, the perfect combination of classic and contemporary graphics and gameplay.

One doesn’t only rely on normal weapons to defeat waves of monsters, but also on magic that can be overcharged with the souls of the dead. Enemies aren’t stupid, though, as their AI makes them follow the player on land, sea, and air. Offering fast-paced action reminiscent of classic titles like Doom or Heretic, this isn’t for the storytelling crowd, but for those who simply love blasting everything to a bloody pixel mess. Despite its retro look, the levels and enemies look great, while it’s also nice to see the Unreal Engine 4 run on less-than-state-of-the-art PCs.

The game is out now on PC with a 20% launch discount that will last until June 27th, 5pm UTC.
