GOG release: “Eternam”

Piko Interactive brings back another obscure classic with Infogrames Studios’ sci-fi comedy point-and-clicker Eternam that has found another home on GOG.

The story of Eternam is reminiscent of the Westworld movies with the idea that a planet offers people the opportunity to relive history disguised as a theme park: one can see half a dozen past human eras that are full of life-like-bio-tech creatures bringing scenes from ancient Egypt, medieval times, or the French Revolution to life. However, it’s a much more humorous take, as it’s about space marshal Don Jonz who has recently won a Virtual Adventure Vacation on Eternam and has to prevent the evil Dragoons reclaiming the park with the help of his arch-rival Mikhal Nuke.

Jonz is not alone, though, as there’s Tracy, the beautiful technician on the Eternam coordination team who sadly dematerialized into the planet’s computer network. Communicating via the computer screen, using intuition, courage, wit, diplomacy, charm and a surreal sense of humor, the player is drawn into a unique adventure world that combines first-person exploration as well as classic 2D environments for puzzle solving and talking to all sorts of weird people and creatures.

Originally published in 1992 by Infogrames Studios (the company responsible for such hits as the Alone in the Dark 1-3 series), Eternam is now finally available in digital form on GOG with a 50% launch discount that will last until July 8th, 3pm UTC.
