GOG release: “Reventure”

Pixelatto‘s 2D platformer-adventure game Reventure offers GOG customers 100 different endings.

Reventure might look like your typical indie platformer, but with a dynamic story system borrowing from the movie Groundhog Day, each game can turn out quite differently for the wannabe hero protagonist. It’s like choose-your-own-adventure meets pixel art platforming shenanigans with all kinds of meta-fictional surprises, resulting in 100 different endings, depending on one’s decisions and paths one has chosen.

Dying is permanent, but it’s not the end, as one unlocks more than 50 playable characters. Failure is always a learning process, so even if one has made a mistake, one can try a different approach next time, which means using other gear, going another route, tackling problems or leaving them, etc.. Exploration, jumping, fighting, discovering secrets, evading traps, solving puzzles, unlocking new abilities, and doing it again and again in a wide open world makes experimentation all part of the fun. Presenting alternative stories and a character that changes with them adds to replay value, too.

Reventure was originally released in June this year, but it’s now available DRM-free on GOG with a 50% launch discount that will last until August 8th, 1pm UTC.
