Star Drifters‘s fantasy kingdom builder game Driftland: The Magic Revival flies to GOG shores.
The fantasy genre always seems to be a perfect fit for games, especially strategy games, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that Driftland: The Magic Revival follows this template and offers a mix of kingdom building and resource/unit management in a world that is full of magic and danger after a war between mages almost destroyed the planet of Driftland. Now new sources of magic crop up and it seem that the planet can either be restored or wiped out of existence.
Playing as a Mage Overlord, one explores a procedurally generated world and connects floating lands to expand one’s kingdom. Moving landmasses with magic while taming and riding dragons in addition to other creatures differentiates the game from other kingdom builders, while the presentation is certainly great with some nice-looking graphics and soothing music. It all looks a bit like a boardgame come to life, which isn’t a bad thing at all.
Driftland: The Magic Revival was originally released in April 2019 and is now available DRM-free with a 40% launch discount that will last until August 30th, 1pm UTC.
