Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and sometimes playing with friends or complete strangers and having fun that involves screaming and laughing is the best indication that the designers have done something remarkable. Having had this experience (at least playing with a bunch of people I didn’t know) during gamescom 2019 should tell you everything you need to know.
The main idea is simply to reach the end of a level with every character intact, and the only way to do that is to use both hands that can grab either surfaces or team members. Letting go at the right moment, doing the right swing moves, and gripping everyone’s hands has to be seen to be believed. What follows is an entanglement of limbs and lots of certain death sequences if one doesn’t play well with other people. It’s really that simple and that funny, complemented by a cartoon art style and silly music that it’s an instant buy for anyone who wants to have a party game like no other.
The game is out now on PC and Nintendo Switch, the former with a 10% launch discount that will last until September 5th, 3pm UTC. Hopefully it will be released on other platforms as well, because the more people are able to play it, the more likely a sequel or DLC can come, or simply to make a lot of people happy.
