Indie games with pixel graphics and roguelike elements are dime a dozen these days, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that this game is set in a dark fantasy world with the souls of heroes having been cursed after death and wandering around in an afterlife reserved for sinners. It’s only the choices one makes that influence the way how fights and enemies turn out to be.
Leading a team of heroes with their unique abilities and weaknesses is another obvious gameplay mechanic, while going through all sorts of dark places like primeval forests and boneyards doesn’t make this a game for those who like happy places. Equipping one’s team with new weapons or crafting armor is a given, and leveling up abilities is further proof that Sin Slayers sticks to what it knows best: traditional RPG fare. So maybe it’s the choices that can make the game stand apart, because if the sinfulness of the team is high, one will encounter tougher enemies, for example. So anyone who has a penchant for classic turn-based dark fantasy games, will have a lot of fun with this title.
The game is out now on PC with a 15% launch discount that will last until September 13th, 5pm UTC.
