Die Gute Fabrik and Akupara Games‘ adventure game Mutazione combines drama and gardening into a unique mix.
The coming-of-age story revolves around 15-year-old girl Kai who goes to the island of Mutazione to help care for her dying grandfather. The setting is a strange one, as the inhabitants are mutants (thanks to the meteor “Moon Dragon” that had struck the tropical holiday resort 100 years ago) who only seem friendly from the outside, while a strange bird-like figure has started to appear in Kai’s dreams.
The gameplay is just as unique as the plot and characters, as it’s about making new friends by attending BBQs, band nights, and boat trips, while also planting musical gardens. There’s certainly something soothing about the art direction and the dialogue that don’t draw from the horror genre, but more of personal human dramas. All in all, this could be an unforgettable experience that is both touching and strange.
The game is out now on PC with a 10% launch discount that will last until September 26, 5pm UTC.
