Game release: “The Beast Inside” (PC)

Illusion Ray Studio‘s, Movie Games‘, and PlayWay‘s survival horror The Beast Inside isn’t for the weak of heart and stomach.

Playing as two protagonists, the storytelling approach is quite ambitious: Taking place in 1979 Boston, CIA cryptanalyst Adam moves to the countryside with his wife Emma, but instead of working on a military code that could change the Cold War forever, he finds a diary by Nicolas Hyde who seemed to have lived in the same mansion in the 19th century. By opening the diary, the horrors of the past come to life in the here and now. Much exploration and especially running away from devious monstrosities ensues.

The first impression of the game is that this isn’t for those with motion sickness, as there’s a lot of camera movement in tense sequences. However, there seem to be quieter moments, as it’s not all about escaping and shooting, but also about exploring the dark environments that look just as intimidating as the terrifying antagonists. Being promoted as a unique mix of thriller and survival horror in which one’s actions have consequences for each character and the storylines, it remains to be seen if there’s more to it than the impressively action-packed and also nauseating set-pieces. Considering that one plays in both timelines, there’s definitely potential in there.

The game is out now on PC with a 15% launch discount that will last until November 7th, 2pm UTC.
