Revistronic’s classic comic adventure game Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner makes a return on GOG thanks to Casual Brothers.
It’s funny how time flies by: Having covered Fenimore Fillmore: 3 Skulls of the Toltecs in this GOG release news last year, I fondly remembered the successor Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner that proved 3D could actually work in point-and-clickers.
Despite already being 17 years old, the game features some great animation work, and even if I can’t remember much about the story and characters, meaning it’s not really an instant classic like The Secret of Monkey Island, the Western setting with a humorous twist should be enough reason to revisit it. One thing I do remember, though, is that one had to feed a horse carrots in order to travel from one place to another, a mechanic that added to realism as well as frustration. Still, with over 20 characters to talk to and 80 items to use, it’s a classic puzzler through and through anyone should play, and one that is also genuinely funny.
Fenimore Fillmore: The Westerner was already re-released in 2016 on mobile devices and later in 2017 on Steam, but it’s now finally on GOG DRM-free with a 40% discount that lasts until February 25, 2020, at 3 PM UTC.
