Unfold Games‘ surreal puzzler DARQ has received its first DLC with The Tower.
Last year I reviewed the original DARQ during the annual Halloween gaming special week and it was a game that came out of nowhere, offering a great mix of puzzles that are solved by literally turning the environment upside down. The creepy atmosphere was also quite memorable thanks to a weird creature design reminiscent of the Silent Hill series.
It doesn’t happen very often that there’s almost no description of a game’s content, but it’s the case here: One again plays as young boy Lloyd who is back in the mysterious tower and has to tackle new puzzles and get out alive and sane. As one doesn’t need to have finished the base game, one shouldn’t expect a continuation of the story… of which there wasn’t much to begin with, which seems to be a stroke of genius. Be it as it may, not having to pay for the DLC makes it easy to recommend if only to be immersed in the strange dream surroundings that made the original so captivating.
The DLC is out now on PC and can be downloaded for free. To celebrate the release, the base game which is obviously required to play is available with a special 50% discount that lasts until March 16, 2020, at 11:00 PM UTC.
