Epic Games Store free games: “The Stanley Parable” and “Watch Dogs”

Epic Games Store goes both indie and AAA with its two new freebies: Galactic Cafe‘s first-person exploration game The Stanley Parable and Ubisoft‘s open-world action-adventure Watch Dogs.

The Stanley Parable is both a commentary on repetitive office worker life as well as how a game forces the player to progress. Playing as Stanley whose life only seems to consist of sitting and typing in front of his computer, one decides to leave the office and is confronted by a narrative voice accompanying his every move. Deciding if one follows the narrator’s instructions or disobeys them, one experiences different story outcomes. There have been many walking simulators since the release of this game, but the main idea still sounds as contemporary as ever.

Watch Dogs is all about hacking and how it can change the modern world. Playing as hacker Aiden Pearce who wants to take revenge on those who were responsible for the death of his niece, one can take control of all sorts of devices via smartphone, showcasing a bleak future of connectivity that might not be too far off. While there has already been a sequel and the next game is in the making as well, experiencing this AAA for free remains a pretty good proposition.

Both games can now be added to the Epic Games Store account for free until March 26, 2020, at 4:00 PM.
