The main storyline about SRO (Supernatural Science Research Organization) agent Shelia who fights against the undead resurrected by the terrorist organization SAI with a substance called “Soul of Jiu Xuan” can’t be any stranger, although it becomes even more convoluted when Shelia accidentally activates a Quantum Transporter that brings everyone and everything to a continent floating in the air near the North Pole. However, if one accepts this outlandish plot, one will be engaged in a pretty exciting mix of martial arts and gun action that could be straight out of an over-the-top anime sequence accompanied by flashy special effects thanks to Unreal Engine 4.
It’s a weird mix of sci-fi shooting and cutting up smaller or bigger fantasy beasts, reminiscent of the Devil May Cry series, so expect a lot of blood, but also combo attacks and skill trees to unlock. As there are also a few environmental puzzles to solve and the game takes place in exotic outdoor locations, there might even be a bit of Tomb Raider atmosphere in there. While this all sounds like a mishmash of genres and gameplay ideas that are all over the place, this might probably be the reason why it looks and sounds so intriguing to play.
The game has been in Early Access since January 2019 when it was released as the first episode, but now it’s finally out in its 1.0 version. Yes, it’s all a bit confusing, especially because customers who buy it also receive Bright Memory: Infinite when it’s available. However, considering that it’s all done by one person in his free time, what’s on display is pretty impressive. Right now, there’s a 33% launch discount that lasts until April 2, 2020, at 1 PM UTC, which might be the best way to support the developer.
