GOG celebrates a Warhammer weekend special by giving away DreamForge Intertainment’s fantasy sci-fi turn-based strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War.
There are so many release news lately (and more reviews planned for last/this week) that the limited time offer of Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War can only be given a few tidbits of text, although it deserves much more attention. Released in 1999 when turn-based strategy titles were still quite popular, this title set in the board and figurine world established by Games Workshop offers as much fantasy and sci-fi elements as one can imagine. Humans fight against bio-engineered Tyranids in a 24-mission campaign, with additional scenarios in which one can take control of both factions. Including an RPG-like leveling up system for troops, it does the franchise justice and with its 90ies pixel art, it’s still quite nice to look at, too.
Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War is only available for free until tomorrow, July 19, 2020, at 1 PM UTC, so be quick and add it to the DRM-free library as soon as you can! There’s also a huge Warhammer promo sale that lasts until July 20, 2020, at 1 PM UTC.
