Netflix watchlist: June 2020

Netflix in June 2020 had more that its fair share of inappropriate humor in animated form.

TV shows:
Paradise PD (Season 2, Episodes 1-8) [8/10]

After I was pleasantly surprised by the gross-out, anarchic humor of the first season of Paradise PD (discussed in the Netflix watchlist: April 2019 article), expectations were pretty high with Season 2. However, as it’s usually the case with animated TV shows that try to push the boundary of bad taste, the formula can get a bit stale, with many jokes missing the mark. There’s still a lot to laugh about, and the main storyline is even crazier than the characters (especially with the police department crew meeting characters from the show Brickleberry by the same people), but it doesn’t feel as fresh as before. In addition, the season has a very disappointing cliffhanger with Episode 8 that should be resolved in the last two, with no release date yet.

It seems to become common practice for TV streaming shows to keep the audience away from a complete experience, and even if one can skip the weekly waiting time with some, holding out for only two episodes will hopefully not become the norm, as it’s the case with Paradise PD.
