Epic Games Store‘s newest limited time freebies are Batterystaple Games/ Fire Hose Games‘ roguelike action platformer 20XX, Turning Wheel LLC‘s first-person roguelike RPG Barony, and Capybara Games‘ exploratory action-adventure Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP.
As these games are only available for free for a few hours, here’s just a very short rundown of what to expect of them, starting with 20XX, which offers some platforming action with sublime cartoon graphics that wouldn’t be out of place in a Mega Man title. Only this time it’s a heroine who uses her arm as a weapon to beat each level, enemy and boss, which can also be tackled in the co-op mode.
Barony couldn’t be any more different, as it’s classic fantasy roguelike and CRPG gaming, but with a cooperative play touch. It might look crude with its graphics, but this is all part of the charme.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP can be called something of an indie gaming classic, and it still looks and sounds wonderful after all the years that have passed since 2012. Unlike many games, it’s a much more relaxed experience, mostly thanks to the sublime soundtrack, but also how fighting and puzzle solving go hand in hand with exploring a mysterious world.
All three games can now be added to the Epic Games Store account for free until today, August 6, 2020, at 5:00 PM.
