GOG release: “Relicta”

Mighty Polygon and Ravenscourt‘s first-person sci-fi puzzler Relicta lands on DRM-free GOG terrain.

Relicta shows that physics-based puzzle games can still tell an engaging storyline, even if Portal has made it rather difficult to stand out. In this case one plays as a physicist who is stranded on the derelict Chandra Base on the Moon and who doesn’t only have to dig deep into its secrets but who wants to keep her daughter alive as well. Although this sounds like the perfect set-up for one dark corridor following another, it’s anything but, as the planet offers many beautiful environments to traverse.

Progressing in the story and piecing together the missing parts of the base’s background story obviously means progressing through devious puzzles which rely on one’s understanding of gravity and magnetism. Both of which can be altered at will, resulting in some mind-bending brain teasers and probably a bit of nausea in the first-person perspective.

Relicta was originally released on August 4 this year and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 25% launch discount that lasts until October 19, 2020, at 1 PM UTC.
