GOG celebrates the 20th anniversary of Paradox Interactive‘s historical strategy series Europa Universalis with the freebie Europa Universalis II and a Paradox strategy sale.
Europa Universalis II was originally released in December 2001 and proves that learning about human history can be immersive and fun when playing a strategy title, instead of brooding over books. One leads a European country to either fame, glory, or doom, depending one one’s ability to handle domestic and foreign affairs. Just as the Civilization series, one starts from the beginning, like the Middle Ages, and sees how one’s nation develops in different time periods, using diplomacy, trade, religion, or military actions to survive, expand and prosper.
Europa Universalis II is only available for free until tomorrow, October 24, 2020, at 1 PM UTC. In addition, there’s a Paradox strategy sale with lots of discounts. If you’re interested in the history of the series, be sure to check out this GOG article.
