Epic Games Store free games: “Costume Quest 2” and “Layers of Fear 2”

Epic Games Store‘s new freebies of the week are Double Fine Productions/Majesco Entertainment‘s Halloween adventure/RPG Costume Quest 2 and Bloober Team‘s artful first-person horror game Layers of Fear 2.

Halloween can’t come soon enough and finally the Epic Games Store offers a free bundle of games that fit quite well together, although their tone is very different. It’s been 7 years since I wrote a review about the first game and haven’t come around playing Costume Quest 2 since. It again offers a mix of humorous adventuring and RPG combat, but now it’s about a group of kids saving Halloween by going back in time, as a future without candy and costumes has to be stopped by any means necessary.

I won’t write much about Layers of Fear 2, because I already published this review today. Suffice it to say that it looks and sounds as terrific as Layers of Fear, only now taking place on a ship, but with all the themes of insanity, fragmented memories, and the role of the artist intact.

Both games can now be added to the Epic Games Store account for free until October 29, 2020, at 5:00 PM.
