OSome Studio and Microids‘ classic action-platformer Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered brings back some nostalgic cartoon fun.

It doesn’t happen very often that remasters of sequels are released before the original has received the HD treatment, but in case of Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered that’s exactly the case, with Asterix and Obelix XXL 3 – The Crystal Menhir being the latest updated installment. The first game came out in 2003 and 2004 on various platforms, but it seems that the fun of beating up Romans has never stopped, although it’s understandable that the titular heroes are mad after their small Armorican village has been pillaged and their friends have been abducted.

The new version of the game includes 4 game modes that weren’t in the original, namely the Course Mode for those who like to perform stunts while overcoming various obstacles, the Countdown Mode for speedruns, the Extreme Mode for a tougher challenge, and the Retro Mode that allows switching to the original graphics.

The game is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch with a 10% launch discount that lasts until October 30, 2020, at 2 PM UTC. There are also retail versions, although they’re only for consoles and available in Germany and the UK.
